Companion (Bonsai, Huntington Gardens) is inspired by a bonsai tree on view in the new section of the Chinese Gardens at the Huntington Library in San Marino, California. When I saw the elegant tree, just two thin trunks, placed in front of a white wall, I was struck by the beautiful and minimal space that instilled a sense of calm and peacefulness.
