L.A. Lover V
L.A. Lover V is the most sculptural work in the series. The work combines the torn paper technique I have used on earlier panels with the newer series using the rubbing of the L.A. Water street cover that I transform to read "L.A. Lover" The torn paper is sourced from junk mail and also dyed and painted sheets of handmade paper. The longer I live in Los Angeles the more I see how connected the city it is by not only it's freeways but also the neighborhoods and communities that morph into one another over surface streets. I take pride in knowing more and more L.A. history and unmarked sites that I find interesting like a small bridge traversing the L.A. river where people have adorned the fencing with engraved and hand written commitment and love messages with locks.
